Product Details
Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injection for Neck Pain.
This procedure is used to treat pain in the low back (lumbar) that typically radiates down into the buttock or legs on one side. One or two levels may be required for pain relief based on MRI results and pattern of pain (price listed is per level)**.
Pain relief may occur immediately due to the effect of the procedure as it washes out inflammation around the nerves. More often, pain relief begins 3-4 days after the procedure and can last up to 4 months on average.
There are other options for treating back pain, including injection without steroid, physical therapy, traction, and medications.
What is included:
- This order includes a epidural steroid injection using local anesthetic and steroid.
- A pre-screening visit with the physician.
- We will use fluoroscopy x-ray and contrast to ensure the accuracy of needle placement.
Pre-procedure requirements:
- The results of a recent MRI are required for this procedure. If you have not had an MRI, then a pre-procedure consultation with our physician is required (order a 30 min consultation with Dr. David Edwards).
- Must be able to hold blood thinner medications for 5-7 days before the procedure.
- Must not have an active infection, or being treated for an infection (on antibiotics).
